My parents like that Outback I spoke of earlier. The problem is that I am currently in Florida, but I live in New York. The dealer is offering only $200 above invoice, but we have to ship/drive the car to New York on our own. Therefore I ask: what is the best/cheapest way to ship a new car a long distance?
Here's a Bentley Continental with tinted windows, hideous wheels and blacked-out taillights. Shudder.
Here's a Lexus RC-F with the Carbon Package I saw at the Lexus dealership.

I want to slap the person who thought this looked good.

This screams road trip opportunity to me.

That was an option we were considering

If I understand you correctly, and you're in Florida:
1) go have some fun at Disney World;
2) drive to Sanford FL and put the car on the Autotrain ;
3) get off in Northern VA and drive it home.
Did it once as a kid and once as an adult. Not a bad way to go at all.

That's a good idea! I wouldn't have thought of it myself.

The RC-F or the Carbon pack?

You get to sleep all night instead of drive all night. They returned my '97 without a scratch on it.

Those god-awful headlights.

Look up some quotes from UShip. I had my motorcycle shipped NY to LA for $700.

We found it would be $850.

Ugh, lame. FWIW, my sister's driven St. Pete/Tampa to NY more than a few times in a less-than-reliable car, with gas this cheap I'd probably go that route too.

When one of my friends needed to move her SUV from NJ to the west coast (2,800 miles), I lost a bet while drinking and wound up spending $650 and three days behind the wheel.
I would not recommend that option.

How can you not find a deal locally that's close enough to not bother going through all that?

Working on it, but only $180 above invoice? That's hard to come by.

Yeah, the Autotrain is pretty neat. Just make sure everything in the car is secure.

http://www.amtrak.com/auto-train Won't get you all the way to NY but a great way to avoid a long drive and putting a bunch of unnecessary miles on your car.

Nah Cross country road trips rock. I did it twice when I PCS'd in the Army.
